The Pizza Maker/Line Cook prepares the pizza and assists in the preparation and service of other menu items as well as performing a number of other activities including non-food duties such as dishwashing, general cleaning duties, and storing food and non-food supplies.  Although primarily a Pizza Maker/Line Cook, a Crew Member in this position is required to pitch in and help wherever necessary. 

General Duties and Functions:  
  • Prepare pizza and assist in the preparation and service of other menu items as needed according to the recipe, procedure, quality, and timeliness standards.
  • Stock and refill pizza line and sandwich coolers and maintain the cleanliness of each unit.
  • Follow food handling techniques and procedures and comply with local health department guidelines.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene in compliance with Company Policy and Health Department Guidelines.
  • Comply with Company’s dress code.
  • Follow safety policies and regulations, reporting injuries or any unsafe conditions and work practices to the Shop Manager.
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Remove all food from the serving lines and store food properly, if working at closing.
  • Empty trash containers when needed.
  • Perform other functions as necessary for the operation of the shop and/or as assigned by management.
Pizza-Making Responsibilities:
  • Be part of the team making pizza dough. 
  • Hand-stretch pizza dough.
  • Multi-task using a multiple-deck pizza oven.
  • Create pizzas for both in-house and to-go consumption.
  • Work directly on a wooden pizza peel to move the topped pizza off into the oven.
  • Rotate fresh ingredients using the FIFO (first in, first out) method. 
  • Rotate dough from the cooler.
  • Cook pizzas to Slice on Broadway procedures and standards.
  • Portion food products according to Company designated portion sizes and plating guidelines.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a restaurant of at least 3 months preferred.
  • Must be able to comply with oral and written instructions and communicate and exchange accurate information so that others will understand.
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions for recipes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • May be required to work additional hours depending upon the workload and staffing. 
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
  • Remain in a stationary position for substantial periods of time, move and traverse within the shop as necessary, position yourself to perform functions required by the position, observe details at close range, and transport/move products and goods weighing up to 50 pounds. 
Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions involve noise, heat, changes in temperature, odors, moisture, and other conditions common in a restaurant. 
Performance of Essential Functions:

Compensation: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour

PAID TIME OFF
Slice Crew believes it is beneficial to Crew Members and Slice Crew that Crew Members take time off so that they will remain productive and enthusiastic while at work in addition to having paid sick days available. Slice Crew provides flexibility and choices to Crew Members to take time off through Paid Time Off (“PTO”). PTO is available for use throughout the year, instead of providing separate time off for sick, vacation, personal reasons, and other purposes.
